The perfect place to set a new world record.
On Sunday night, a group of artists attempted to go down in Guinness World Record history for painting the largest glow-in-the-dark painting in the world, at the Dance + Run Long Beach 5K, hosted by Keep LBC Fit and Emissary Media Group with the support of Seven Point Construction and Millworks.
According to Guinness World Records spokesperson Kristen Ott, the record the team attempted to set involved painting the largest two-dimensional painting that glows in the dark, measured by surface area in square meters. The record can be attempted by an individual or team of unlimited size, said Ott.
The original record was set in China in 2012 and has been broken four times.
“The current record for the largest glow in the dark painting is 207.68 square meters (681.36 square feet) and was achieved by Nissan (Japan) at The Black Hangar Studios in Alton, Hampshire, UK on 20 March 2015,” Ott told the Post.
If successful, the artists responsible will join eight other Guinness world records set in Long Beach.
