The Long Beach Playhouse and local improv artists Held2Gether will team up to provide a night of improv and sketch comedy to benefit the WomenShelter of Long Beach, the playhouse announced Tuesday. The show, A Miracle on Anaheim Street, will take place on Saturday, December 5.

Story continued below.

"This is a great opportunity for us at the Playhouse to give back to our community," said Playhouse Executive Director Andrew Vonderschmitt in a statement. "We are always looking for ways to collaborate with local artists and if we can benefit a local institution in the process it's a win-win."

A Miracle on Anaheim Street is the brainchild of Held2Gether founder, Darren Held, according to the announcement. Held says this first holiday show with the playhouse should make for a side-splitting evening of short sketches and long form improv.

“Long Beach is an amazing community, full of so many worthy charities,” said Held in a statement. “The fact we can complement the WomenShelter and their valiant mission in any way is truly an honor.”

"Domestic Violence is a community problem and we are so grateful to the Long Beach Playhouse and Held2Gether for bringing holiday high-jinx and good spirits to our community to raise much-needed funds for our shelter and programs." said Director of Development Susan DeLand in a statement. "A Miracle on Anaheim Street will make miracles happen for families struggling for a brighter future."

Performance is at 8:00PM on Saturday, December 5. The box office will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 3:00PM to 8:00PM. Tickets are available via the playhouse website here or by calling 562.494.1014, option 1.

Long Beach Playhouse is located at 5021 East Anaheim Street.
