WE Show III is coming up this August and once again, in an effort to further develop a strong pool of curatorial talent within the city, WE Labs and the Arts Council for Long Beach are searching for a curator to assist with the locally-focused exhibition.
The arts council will support the selected guest curator with a $250 stipend, according to an announcement released earlier this week.
WE Show III is the third installment of a series of quarterly exhibitions throughout 2015 that showcase the work of local artists in downtown Long Beach at the WE Labs creative space on Broadway. WE Show I gave viewers a chance to see work by Rhett Johnson, Jose Loza, David Van Patten, Sherry Ray-Von and Connie Lane among several others working and showing in Long Beach.
Submission for WE Show III is open to artists who are signed up on the arts council's Arts and Cultural Registry, a free service designed to serve as a comprehensive list of Long Beach artists and arts organizations for anyone to use. Viewers can see the show during WE Labs open hours as well as during WE Labs Art Tours. The opening reception for WE Show III will be on August 8.
Guest curators should expect to be available for an interview on June 30, an art selection meeting on July 21 and the WE Show III preview and opening on August 7 and 8. They must also be free for at least one Art Tour on August 28 or September 25 and the WE Show III closing reception on October 23.
Stay up to date with future WE Shows, receptions and tours here. WE Show, located at WE Labs, can be viewed at 235 E. Broadway #800, on the 8th Floor of the Pacific Southwest building.
