The Arts Council for Long Beach in partnership with the city proposed to expand an already existing arts initiative to add mural and public art programs.

Currently and in partnership with Centro CHA, West Long Beach students are taught how to play indigenous instruments, including the pan pipe and drums at local parks, according to the agenda item.

“The cultural and artistic murals emerging around Long Beach help bring our diverse communities together and enhance civic pride and investment in our neighborhoods,” stated the agenda item. “These funds will be used to support the creation of additional murals, and other arts programming throughout the district.”

Uranga commented on Facebook that they’re working on identifying walls for future murals.
