Forest Lawn Memorial Day Event
Forest Lawn in North Long Beach will be holding its annual Memorial Day program from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. The free program includes a presidential proclamation, rifle salute, color guard and free souvenirs. For more information click here.

Free Admission to the Queen Mary for Military Personnel
The Queen Mary is offering free admission to all current and retired military personnel all weekend. Discover the retired oceanliner’s role during WWII or (for a price) even hop on a 164-foot observation wheel that has made its way to the harbor for a limited time.

Applebee’s FlapJack Fundraiser Breakfast and Dine
Applebee’s in Signal Hill will hold its third annual Memorial Day FlapJack Breakfast and Dine fundraiser. If you choose to dine in anytime during business hours, 15 percent of your total bill will benefit The Rock Club Music Is The Remedy, which aims to improve the lives of veterans, at-risk youth and other groups through music instruction, education and mentoring. The celebration itself will be held from 8:00AM to 10:30AM and will include The Rock for Vets Band, and a chance to “meet military heroes,” according to the announcement. Memorial Day Remembrance Along Battleship USS Iowa
A Memorial Day Remembrance event will be hosted by the Pacific Battleship Center alongside the Battleship USS Iowa. All active, retired and reserve military will receive complimentary admission to the battleship with a valid ID. The pierside festival is free for the public. For more information click here.

Memorial Day Backyard Barbecue
While not technically commemorating Memorial Day, this backyard BBQ event has all the makings of a quintessential holiday get together—good food with neighbors and friends. This event is part of the inaugural Foodways Summit happening in Long Beach until next Thursday. Hang out in the Historic Willmore District from 3:00PM to 8:00PM for some meat courtesy of pop-restaurant Shady Grove Foods. Enjoy some ribs, tri-tip, or Polish kielbasa with sides for $15. You can pre-order or purchase at the event and BYOB, according to organizers. For more information click here.

Long Beach City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 28. Street Sweeping and enforcement of street sweeping violations will not occur on May 28. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Tuesday, May 29. Refuse and Recycling collection will occur, per the normal schedule, on Monday, May 28.
All Long Beach Public Libraries (LBPL) will be closed on Saturday, May 26, in observance of the holiday. Bay Shore, Burnett, El Dorado and Michelle Obama Neighborhood Libraries will be open on Sunday, May 27, per their normal schedule and all libraries will be closed on Monday, per their normal schedule and will reopen on Tuesday, May 29.
