Singin' for Grace First: 'Music at the Point' Highlights Ecclectic Music Talents

Grace First Presbyterian Church announces their 2014-2015 “Music at the Point” series, their 11th season, that will include a wide and eclectic range of musical performances. The season will include singers, guitarists, pianists, at least one Stradivarius violin and a singer-songwriter who is one of the most treasured of her generation, according to the news release.

Carrie Newcomer, a songwriter praised as “a soaring songstress” by Billboard and described as a “prairie mystic” by the Boston Globe, will kick off the season with her October 24 performance. Then on November 9, Trio Céleste will bring an all-classical program of chamber music featuring Kevin Kwan Loucks on piano, Ross Gasworth on the cello and Iryna Krechkovsky playing a Stradivarius violin on loan from the Canada Board of Cultural Arts.

The 2015 segment will be introduced on January 31 by the Rocky Neck Bluegrass Band preceding Vicki Genfan’s performance on February 27, an artist dubbed by Guitar Player Magazine as one of their “guitar superstars.” The Honey Whiskey Trio’s heartfelt melodies, vocal harmony and unique choreography will captivate listeners on March 21. The season will close with three concerts: Dewey Erney accompanied by some of the greatest jazz musicians in California on April 26, L.A. Bronze, a handbell choir, on May 17, and the young piano phenom Sonya Lee will close the season on June 13.
