Long Beach to celebrate Make Music Day with dozens of live performances citywide • Long Beach Post

There will be dozens of chances to catch a live performance in Long Beach Thursday when it joins with 750 other cities in 120 countries to celebrate Make Music Day.

Citywide, more than 50 locations will host performances by local musicians and groups from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for Make Music Long Beach.

The downtown area has the largest cluster of businesses hosting live performances, including MADE by Millworks from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and Public Beer Wine Shop from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., not to mention Live After 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Then head over to the East Village Arts Park from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a jam session and jazz performances; look out for additional events throughout the arts district. In Cambodia Town, check out the Box of Boom, a robotic drum machine, set to perform at the Vault Warehouse 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Across town at Delightful Crepes Cafe, listen to a blues, country and folk group 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., while a ways north in Bixby Knolls you can find an indie-folk artist at The Pan 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., bluegrass at the Concert in the Park(ing) Lot 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and more. And during Belmont Shore’s summer Stroll & Savor event from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., expect live bands to be playing up and down Second Street.
