9:45am | This past Sunday, hundreds of people hit the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier for the 3rd annual Taste of the Coast fundraiser. Long Beach Kids Connection hosted the event which had more than 40 Long Beach restaurants and caterers dishing out their tasty samplings. The mouth watering occasion benefited two local organizations (Long Beach Day Nursery and Children Today) that are committed to providing quality childcare and preschool programs for needy families and children experiencing homelessness. Live music was provided by the Michael Ubaldini Band, Alan Glasband, and the Golden Sands Chorus. Long Beach Firefighters Local 372 was also on hand grilling up burgers. They even brought along their fireboat show to wow the masses. Also present were plenty of children’s activities and entertainment arranged by Long Beach Day Nursery.

At the end of the day an estimated $40,000 was raised during this enjoyable affair. Not only were guests given tastes of food, they were given more awareness of a significant community issue that deserves more recognition.
