UPDATE April 20 12:30PM | The Long Beach Police Department announced today, Monday, that they are still looking for the public’s help with information regarding the fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on Friday, February 13, 2015 at approximately 9:48PM on Santa Fe Ave. and Lincoln St. in Long Beach.

Detectives are hopeful that the $10,000 reward, offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, at the recommendation of Don Knabe, “may encourage reluctant witnesses or individuals with information to come forward,” stated the release.

Previously: $10,000 Reward Offered for Information Regarding Hit-and-Run Driver Who Killed

April 14 3:48PM | The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a hit-and-run motorist who fatally struck a 55-year-old Long Beach man who was crossing the street in his wheelchair.

On February 13 at around 10:00PM, Jose Guevarra was crossing Santa Fe Avenue near Lincoln street when he struck by what investigators said was a late-model green sedan, possibly a BMW. According to reports, Guevarra was thrown from his wheelchair by the impact. 

Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported Guevara to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries two days later.

The reward was recommended by County Supervisor Don Knabe, who called the incident an “incredibly heinous crime.”
