Long Beach will hear from Fourth District Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe next week, part of his annual State of the County tradition.

Next Thursday, Knabe will swing by the Long Beach Convention Center to present his “State of the County” address to an audience of Long Beach residents.

Hosted by the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, the Ninth Annual State of the County Address will take place as a luncheon in the Grand Ballroom of the Long Beach Convention Center from 11:30AM to 1:30PM, according to a release issued by the chamber. The keynote sponsor is AES Alamitos.

“The State of the County address provides us an annual opportunity to review the major initiatives of the past year and to share with residents and businesses the work we are doing on their behalf,” said Knabe in a statement. “I also very much appreciate the Chamber’s tradition of giving back by supporting regional charities who do so much to serve our community.”

According to the release, this year’s talk will delve into issues such as affordable housing, homelessness, jail overcrowding and the economy.

Last year, Knabe discussed sweeping changes that were taking place within the county, including the elections of Hilda Solis and Sheila Kuehl as LA County Supervisors.

“I must say, nowhere are we seeing more change than within the County,” Knabe said at the time. “In all the time I have been with the County, in my nearly 18 years as a supervisor, there has been nothing like it.”

His take on the impact of these changes will also be on display at the luncheon.

Knabe was first elected to the position of county supervisor in 1996 and was re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012. He represents the fourth district, which spans 27 cities, including Long Beach, and 16 unincorporated areas, according to the release.

“Supervisor Knabe is a leader on a wide-range of issues both small and large that impact a broad swath of Southern California. His program highlights during the luncheon are lively, informative and timely,” said Randy Gordon, president and CEO of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in a statement. “It’s a privilege to present the annual ‘State of the County’ address each year for our organization and also the City of Long Beach.”

To attend the event, be ready to drop some dough: individual tickets cost $50 each, and table of 10 sponsorships begin at the nonprofit level at $995, $1,395 at the bronze level, $1,995 at the silver level and $2695 at the gold level.
