Website Lists Long Beach as a Top “Charming” City for Population of its Size

The website RentLingo, an apartment search site, has listed Long Beach among the “Top 20 Most Charming Cities” in the U.S. with a population between 200,000 and 500,000, they announced today.

Their “Charm Index” measured the “overall charm” of every street and block in Long Beach, taking into account information on local businesses, crime, local lifestyles (bike trails, gyms, etc.) and more, according to a release.

The index ranked the City of Long Beach as eighth for the 200,000 to 500,000 population category. The ranking was further broken down into scores on each neighborhood. The highest-scoring neighborhoods on the Charm Index (summarized in their handy Charm Index Map) ranked as follows:

  1. Belmont Shore: Peak Charm Score of 87
  2. Lakewood Village: Peak Charm Score of 80
  3. Rose Park South: Peak Charm Score of 78
  4. Waterfront: Peak Charm Score of 78
  5. Bixby Knolls: Peak Charm Score of 75

Long Beach as a whole ranked just below Sacramento, California and just above Tacoma, Washington. The top 10 most charming cities in Long Beach’s population category ranked as follows:

  1. Miami, Florida
  2. Oakland, California
  3. Atlanta, Georgia
  4. Jersey City, New Jersey
  5. Henderson, Nevada
  6. Irvine, California
  7. Sacramento, California
  8. Long Beach, California
  9. Tacoma, Washington
  10. Glendale, California
