A fire that occurred this afternoon at 7th and Junipero in Long Beach’s Rose Park neighborhood resulted in one "moderate to severe" hand injury and various pet injuries, according to the Long Beach Fire Department (LBPD).
LBFD Spokesman Brian Fisk said firefighters were dispatched to a two-story apartment complex at 2:00PM on the 2200 block of East 7th Street.
Upon arrival, they discovered one upstairs unit of the complex on fire. The firefighters made “quick work of the fire,” according to Fisk, extinguishing it within eight minutes.
One person was transported to the hospital with a hand injury, and several rabbits were injured. Firefighters assisted animals by reviving them with oxygen, Fisk said.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the rabbits are being monitored, according to Fisk. An estimate of damage won’t be available until later today.
