The three sons of an elderly Long Beach man killed while riding his electric mobility scooter have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the man who hit him while driving a pickup truck, and the man’s employer.
The three sons—Joseph, John and Raymond Lopez Jr.—are the children of 91-year-old Raymond Lopez, who died at the intersection of Willow Street and Temple Avenue in Signal Hill last November.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against Matthew Licht and the Signal Hill-based PFT Alexander Inc., seeks unspecified damages stemming from the death of Raymond Lopez Sr.
The lawsuit alleges Licht was driving negligently while on the job, and that his employer is also at fault in the death of the World War II Navy veteran.
Lopez reportedly had difficulty walking. The sons are seeking damages for the loss of their father’s companionship and financial support otherwise provided had he survived, according to the lawsuit.
