“We are honored to again be recognized for the outstanding efforts of our more than 7,000 employees, physicians and volunteers who are dedicated to providing the highest quality, most compassionate care,” said John Bishop, CEO of Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s & Children’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach in a statement.

Each clinical specialty is measured on survival rates, advanced technologies, patient volume, safety, reputation for developing and sustaining high quality care, nurse staffing and patient services. High performing hospitals usually receive “high, “highest” and “better than expected” marks.

Long Beach Memorial scored “high performance” on the following rankings: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Colon Cancer Surgery, Lung Cancer Surgery, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Hip Replacement and Knee Replacement and Orthopedics.

According to the release, the hospital is a part of the small percentage of U.S. hospitals that are consistently recognized by maintaining a top “A” grade in eight of the nine Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Score evaluations for its ability to prevent errors, injuries, accidents and infections.

Since the U.S. News & World Report began its annual rankings, Long Beach Memorial has made many appearances on national “Best Hospitals” lists.

“To be included on these and other prestigious lists is a testament to our commitment to the communities we serve,” Bishop said.
