The WomenShelter of Long Beach (WSLB) is asking for the community’s help to win the Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge, as part of a quest to raise money for their critical programs and services for victims of domestic violence.
Revlon created the challenge to help charities who support women’s health raise as much money as possible for their cause.
The six week challenge on CrowdRise launched today, September 14 and will run through October 26. The women’s health organization that raises the most money wins a grand prize of $1 million, second place wins $100,000, third place wins $75,000, fourth place wins $50,000 and fifth places wins $25,000. Charities will be able to win up to $175,000 in weekly bonus challenges.
“WSLB has been chosen by Revlon to be one of the participants in this exciting challenge,” the release stated. “With the help of our community, the funds we raise will help us not only sustain our work, but grow our work.”
The WSLB provides services to domestic violence victims and community outreach and education to the greater Long Beach population. The nonprofit organization believes in prevention and delivers partner violence awareness presentations in schools, including college campuses to be alert of “red flags” and give them tools to create healthy relationships.
“We are reliant on donations that enable us to give immediate help to victims of domestic violence and their children,” Director of Development Susan DeLand said in a statement. “This is a public health crisis in our community. Please be a part of the solution!”
