The Long Beach Board of Water Commissioners elected officers for president, vice president and secretary at a special Board meeting, Long Beach Water announced Thursday.
Art Levine was elected as president; Robert Shannon as vice president, and Gazette Newspapers Publisher Harry Saltzgaver as secretary. The new officers will serve starting this October through September 2017.
“Many congrats to my friend and colleague,” stated commissioner and outgoing president Frank Martinez. “I’m honored to pass the Board presidency to Art. He is a dedicated civic leader, with a large presence in our city. I know he will exemplify exceptional leadership in Long Beach and beyond.”
“Thank you to my fellow Board members for this vote of confidence,” said President Levine in a statement. “I’m delighted to carry on the good work of past-president Frank Martinez and to continue the Department's legacy of leadership in water conservation and innovation.”
