Long Beach Mayor Visits White House, Thanks FLOTUS for Service

Mayor Robert Garcia flew to the White House yet again this week for a Monday presentation, in which the city was honored for its efforts to curb veteran homelessness.

While there, he emphasized his close-up view of first lady Michelle Obama, complete with enthusiastic emojis, including that of a sparkled heart.

He later described meeting Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors President Dave Cortese, Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider and San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo for a round table on ending veteran homelessness.

In the past week, Garcia has pledged to work for Long Beach interests with the new administration. He also thanked the hundreds of Long Beach residents who protested a Trump presidency for not inciting violence and keeping things peaceful.

Garcia openly supported former senator, secretary of state and democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, notably introducing her at a rally that took place at Long Beach City College last June.

He appeared to be reflecting upon Clinton’s career at the White House.

Also on the agenda—a moment to read.
