Three Arrested During Friday Night DUI Checkpoint

Three drivers were arrested during the DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD)’s Traffic Section conducted Friday from 6:00PM to 2:00AM, officials announced today.


 

Two DUI-alcohol arrests and one outstanding warrant arrest were made during the checkpoint, which was located on Pacific Coast Highway south of 2nd Street.

  • 2 DUI-alcohol arrests
  • 1 outstanding warrant arrest
  • 4 drivers cited for unlicensed driving
  • 11 traffic citations issued

Drivers caught driving impaired can expect a DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses exceeding $10,000.

Drivers are encouraged to use the Designated Driver VIP (DDVIP) mobile app, which enables Android and iPhone users to locate establishments offering incentives for driving sober. Non-DDs using the app that can also order rideshares from Uber, Lyft and Curb.

The next DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint conducted by the LBPD will take place on Friday, September 15.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Driver – Call 9-1-1’.
