4:05 pm | The Arts Council for Long Beach announced on August 4,  the selection of John Glaza as their Interim Executive Director and simultaneously announced the search committee for a new Executive Director. 

Mr. Glaza is the immediate past Director of Consulting Services for the Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership where he worked with hundreds of nonprofits in the area, including numerous arts organizations.  He has spent most of his career working with and leading mission-driven organizations and has consistently applied those missions to the delivery of high–quality programs and services. 

According to the Council’s Board President, Kamran Assadi… “We are thrilled to have someone with John’s depth of experience step in on an interim basis to maintain our momentum in supporting a world-class arts community in Long Beach.”
 
The Arts Council has also created an Executive Director Search Committee that will soon begin its work to search out and recommend a new Executive Director to lead the Council.  The committee includes the following local arts advocates:
 

  • Kelly Curry, Director of Programming and Development, Living Love Foundation
  • Andreas Mitisek, General and Artistic Director, Long Beach Opera
  • Christopher Scoates, Director, CSULB University Art Museum
  • Antonio Ruiz, ACLB Board Member and Blue Ribbon Committee Member
  • Terry Braunstein, Multi-media artist
  • Anne Huyck, Director of Arts Learning, ACLB
