A man threatening to commit suicide by jumping in front of a Metro Blue Line train in Long Beach Wednesday morning was detained by Sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.

Long Beach police responded to the incident at Long Beach Boulevard and Anaheim Street at around 10:20AM on Wednesday, August 12, at the request of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Megan Zabel said.

According to authorities, the man was threatening to commit suicide, claiming he was going to jump in front of one of the trains. Deputies later detained him.

The incident caused delays in Metro Blue Line services for up to 20 minutes.
