Long Beach to open 50 overnight parking spaces to unhoused people near the Queen Mary

Beginning March 20, the city is expanding its Safe Parking Program to offer 50 overnight parking spaces in a parking lot near the Queen Mary. The site will have security officers, a pet relief area, hand-washing facilities and restrooms.

Library officials have hired a handful of substitute librarians to help quell an ongoing staffing shortage that has kept three branches limited to to-go services for months. The Alamitos Library reopened on Feb. 21, and the Brewitt and Dana libraries will follow suit on March 7.
