UPDATE | Authorities have identified the bicyclist fatally struck by a big rig on the Terminal Island Freeway in Long Beach earlier this week. 

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Jaimes Guadalupe, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene when he was traveling illegally across the northbound lanes of the freeway. 

Guadalupe, who was listed as a transient, was struck at 11:55PM on Sunday, August 30, Long Beach Police Department Lt. Mark Coble said.

PREVIOUSLY: Bicyclist Traveling Illegally on Terminal Island Freeway Fatally Struck Monday Morning

08/31/15 at 11:22AM | A bicyclist was fatally struck by a big rig traveling on the Terminal Island Freeway in Long Beach early Monday morning, authorities said.

Police responded to the freeway at 12:07AM on Monday, August 31.

Paramedics declared the bicyclist—described only as a male in his 60s—dead at the scene.

According to officials, the bicyclist was traveling illegally across the northbound lanes of the freeway when it was struck by a 2010 International semi-truck with trailer driven by a 50-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man who was interviewed and then released by authorities.
