Community nonprofit Centro CHA will be holding a launch party this Saturday to celebrate the start of its social enterprise arm, an apparel brand that aims to fund youth job training programs and sponsor local youth.

Long Beach Por Vida—Spanish for Long Beach For Life—is “for youth by youth,” according to Centro CHA. The public can go to its website to buy hats, beanies, shirts, sweaters and bags.

Funds will go toward wages for youth through work experience, said Centro CHA Executive Director Jessica Quintana. The program aims to provide them with skills in graphic design, customer service, computer technology and screen printing.

“We strongly believe the solutions to our community challenges can be found within the strengths of our community leaders,” Quintana said in a statement.

Centro CHA already provides case management, citizenship and immigration services, workforce development and other programs to the community.

The launch party is scheduled to take place Saturday, March 23 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Centro CHA, 1633 Long Beach Blvd.
