City Manager Pat West announced Tuesday that Jyl Marden, current Assistant to the City Manager, has been appointed as Interim Assistant City Manager.

Effective August 2, Marden, who has worked with the City of Long Beach for 30 years, will temporarily hold the new position until a formal appointment is made later in August; that person will take over in October.

When the formal Assistant City Manager is chosen, Marden will return to her current position as Assistant to the City Manager.

“I am incredibility honored, and humbled to have been asked by the City Manager to fill this role,” Marden said.  “I’ve built my entire career in Long Beach, and look forward to using the experience I’ve gained to provide continuity of leadership until a new Assistant City Manager is in place.”
