On the heels of leading the Long Beach municipal primary elections held last week, Jeannine Pearce today announced she has received the endorsement of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA Local 1309).

Pearce is heading into the June 7 general election with an 8.5 percent lead over rival candidate Eric Gray.
“Laborers’ International Union of North America stands in support of Jeannine Pearce because she is the only candidate with a history of helping working families,” said Peter Santillian, business manager/secretary treasurer of LiUNA Local 1309 in a statement. “Her public policy work at Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE) and helping residents find a voice through her non-profit, Long Beach Rising, are just two examples of what she has already provided for families in Long Beach. We have faith in Jeannine Pearce and her ability to lead. We fully support Jeannine Pearce for Long Beach City Council.”
“The men and women who work in these trades know the challenges facing working families,” said Pearce in a statement. “I take great pride in standing beside them as we work to build a better Long Beach. I am very proud and humbled to have been endorsed by them and I am thankful to their members and their leadership.”
According to a release, Laborers’ Local 1309 has represented laborers in Long Beach and Southern California since 1919. The laborers the union represents have helped build parks, bridges, libraries, schools, freeways, storm drains, buildings and the infrastructure of the cities and waterways throughout the city.
Other prominent endorsements for Pearce include those of Congresswoman Janice Hahn, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal, councilmembers Rex Richardson and Roberto Uranga, the Sierra Club and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor. Click here to see a full list of endorsements.
