A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the northbound 405 Freeway north of the 605 Freeway in Long Beach today.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Michele Bond, the crash was reported at 3:40PM.

Witnesses who contacted the CHP said a motorcycle and its rider were down, Bond said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three lanes of the northbound 405 Freeway were closed, jamming rush-hour traffic in the area. Drivers are advised to utilize alternate routes.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released at the time of publication.
