Long Beach saw four shootings over the weekend, authorities said, including three possibly gang-related shootings that left three men injured and another that scarred the exterior of a Westside bar with two bullet holes, according to the business owners.
Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Barklay Street in North Long Beach at 5:02AM on Saturday, April 9 regarding a shooting, according to Brad Johnson, spokesman for Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
“A male victim was getting into his vehicle when he was shot in the upper torso,” Johnson said.
Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
It is unknown if the incident is gang-related. The investigation remains ongoing.
Officers were called to the 3300 block of Caspian Avenue in the city’s Westside area at about 2:30PM on Sunday, April 10 during which they found an injured man.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach paramedics with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper torso, Johnson said.
Officials are investigating the shooting as possibly gang-related.
Police were called to the 1900 block of West Willow Street at about 12:45AM on Monday, April 11 regarding a no-hit shooting, Johnson said.
Arriving officers learned that unknown assailants had fired at a local Westside business, which was struck multiple times, he added.
According to the owner of the establishment, a bar called The Break Room, the shooters struck their door twice.
The bar's owner claimed the shooting took place from a parking lot at the corner of the block and the establishment's metal door was struck because it was open at the time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The fourth shooting was reported about 10 minutes after the third, at about 12:55AM on Monday, April 11 at the 200 block of West 12th Street.
Johnson said officers arrived to find a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower torso.
He was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury by Long Beach paramedics, he added.
The shooting is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
