Four Teens Charged with Felonies for Monday Long Beach Robbery

 

On Thursday, four 19-year-old suspects, three from Long Beach, were charged with multiple felony charges for their involvement in a street robbery in the Washington neighborhood of Long Beach Monday afternoon, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

According to a release issued by the LBPD, a victim was walking on the 100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway on Monday around 1:15PM, when four suspects approached him. The four encircled the individual, “demanded his property, took his necklace, and immediately fled,” the release stated.

The victim was left uninjured, and patrol officers quickly found the four suspects in the vicinity. Detectives recovered a necklace and handguns during their investigation, according to the report.

Each of the four was charged with robbery, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime and participating in a criminal street gang when the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

The suspects, three of whom are in Long Beach City Jail, are listed below:

  • Joseph Erin Baldwin, 19, of Long Beach: bail set at $165,000
  • Corey Dayvon Leytham, 19, of Buena Park: bail set at $140,000
  • Alexander Ortiz Jr., 19, of Long Beach: bail set at $140,000
  • Casey Willard, 19, of Long Beach: posted bail and was released

Baldwin, Leytham and Ortiz await arraignment today at Long Beach Superior Court, while arraignment for Willard is set for May 22 at Long Beach Superior Court.
