A 20-year-old Los Angeles woman was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly throwing a piece of concrete at a police car while naked and possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs near Long Beach’s Bixby Knolls area, authorities said.
Officers were dispatched to Long Beach Boulevard and 45th Street at about 5:35PM on Tuesday, June 28, regarding “a naked female adult possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs breaking bottles, throwing garbage at passing cars, vandalizing windows of a parked car, and jumping on vehicles,” Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) Sgt. Brad Johnson said.
Witnesses said they saw the woman picking up large bricks from a nearby yard and breaking the windows of multiple parked vehicles.
When officers arrived at the scene they found Summer Patton walking northbound on Long Beach Boulevard at 49th Street carrying an American flag and a piece of concrete, Johnson said.
“When an officer stopped her she threw the concrete at his open car window,” Johnson said. “The officer was able to avoid serious injury by accelerating his vehicle forward and the concrete struck the police car’s rear driver side window, scratching it.”
Authorities said Patton then ran from officers but was eventually taken into custody without incident at the corner of Long Beach and Del Amo boulevards.
Patton was booked into Long Beach Jail for battery on a police officer and indecent exposure. Her bail was set at $20,000.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department's inmate database Patton has been arrested at least 15 times by multiple police agencies throughout the county since she was 18.
The investigation remains ongoing.
