Abandoned

Police arrested and booked Shenae Dixon on charges of child abandonment and child endangerment. She is currently being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $100K bail and is expected to be arraigned sometime next week.

The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were called to the area of Atlantic Ave. and 60th St. at about 8:45AM on October 30 after a passer-by saw two small children, aged at about 1-year-old and two-years-old, alone. The children [pictured left] appeared to be in good health.

LBPD identified the mother of two toddlers after a relative of the two boys notified police, which prompted a search for Dixon. After a tip was provided to the Long Beach Police Department who saw a picture of Dixon on a news broadcast, police were able to locate her at the intersection of Firestone and Alameda in Los Angeles.

She was taken into custody by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies and was transported to the Long Beach Police Department Headquarters where she was interviewed by detectives on her whereabouts in the last 24 hours.

Upon investigation, detectives believe that Dixon had endangered and abandoned her children.

The children are still in the custody of the Department of Child and Family Services, which will determine where the children will be placed.

“In the interest of not wanting to jeopardize the integrity of the case, no further details on this crime can be shared at this time,” police said.
