Officials have yet to file charges against an Anaheim man who fatally shot 40-year-old Long Beach resident Ryan Miller, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

The OC District Attorney’s Office is currently evaluating the details of an incident that occurred Monday at around 5:10AM, when an Anaheim man shot a suspected burglar he caught rummaging through his parked vehicle, they said Wednesday.

Anaheim police Sgt. Luis Correa said the shooter was not taken into custody following the incident.

According to Correa, police responded to the 100 block of South Eucalyptus Drive after a call from a resident who said he saw “a male inside his vehicle which was parked in the driveway of his residence” upon arrival on Monday morning.

“He exited his residence with a shotgun and a confrontation ensued,” he said. “During the confrontation, the resident fired one round and the suspect fled.”

Miller was found nearby and died after being taken to a hospital, Correa said. He urged residents to contact police immediately in such situations, instead of confronting suspects.
