UPDATE: Authorities have identified a man who was found shot to death in downtown Long Beach Tuesday morning. 

Long Beach resident Gregory Griffin, a 37 year old black man, was found dead at about 10:15AM on Tuesday, December 1, near West Shoreline Drive and Pine Avenue, coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said. 

No arrests were reported and a motive for the murder is unknown at this time, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

12/3/15 at 12:17PM | The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has identified a murder victim whose body was found in downtown Long Beach Tuesday morning with injuries to his torso.

The victim was identified as a 37-year-old black man, though a name has not been released pending notification of kin, Coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said. 

Officers responded to the area of West Shoreline Drive and Pine Avenue at 10:17AM on Tuesday, December 1 to assist Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel, who determined the victim was dead at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Officials do not know the motive for the murder and the suspect remains at large.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death and release the identity of the victim after notifying the next-of-kin.
