UPDATE | Officials announced that a 50-year-old Cudahy man, the driver of a big rig truck, was killed in yesterday’s 710 crash that closed the freeway for several hours, after the big rig crashed into a pickup truck and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:33AM.
According to California Highway Patrol Officials, the big rig swerved to avoid slower moving vehicles and hit a 2007 Ford F-550 pickup truck. The collision caused the big rig to veer to the left and turn over, fatally injuring the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt. The 34-year-old Santa Ana man who was driving the 2007 Ford F-550 pickup was not injured.
The overturning of the 2008 Freightliner, which was hauling metal bars, resulted in the closure of all freeway lanes until 1:40PM, when one lane was reopened. At 3:35PM, all lanes were reopened.

PREVIOUSLY: One Lane on Northbound 710 Reopened in Long Beach Following Fatal Morning Crash
9/14/15 2:28PM | The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has reopened one lane of northbound traffic and all on-ramps, following closures this morning when a large big rig truck overturned in a fatal collision.
According to the LBPD, as of 2:22PM, it is unknown when all lanes will be reopened. They have encouraged drivers to stay clear of the section, which consists of the northbound 710 between Pico Boulevard and Willow Street.

9/14/15 at 11:21AM | A traffic collision killed one person on the northbound 710 this morning, just south of the San Diego (405) Freeway interchange, resulting in the closure of the Anaheim and Willow Street on-ramps, according to the Long Beach police.
The onramps from Pico Avenue to Willow are closed, and traffic is backed up from the 405 Freeway to Broadway, according to an LBPD advisory.
All northbound lanes were closed at 9:23AM after a large truck overturned, allowing firefighters to extract the driver from the cab section of the vehicle.
The police stated the northbound Anaheim and Willow street onramps were closed, and the SigAlert was extended for two hours following the crash.
The CHP stated a coroner’s office representative arrived to the scene at 10:07AM.
