Jason GorskiA former Long Beach private school teacher was arrested last week for allegedly sexually abusing a boy he once taught beginning in 2007, authorities announced Thursday.

Jason Gorski, 43, of Fort Mill, South Carolina was arrested June 21 for the continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to a release from the Buena Park Police Department (BPPD).

Authorities said Gorski worked as the male victim’s teacher at the now-closed Southwestern Longview Private School, located at 4747 Daisy Avenue in Long Beach, and as an elder within their Jehovah’s Witness church congregation, located at 8542 Watson Street, Cypress.

The sexual abuse allegedly happened from 2007 to 2009 while the victim was ages 12 to 15, the release stated.

“The abuse came to an end when it was reported to the Jehovah’s Witness church, but it was only recently reported to authorities,” stated BPPD spokesman Sgt. Mike Lovchik. “Gorski moved to South Carolina shortly after the disclosure.”

Gorski attended the Cypress church for several years before being appointed as an elder of the congregation in May, 2007, officials stated. After the 2009 disclosure of the sexual abuse, Gorski was removed as an elder, but continued to attend services at the congregation.

Officials said sometime in 2010, the suspect relocated to South Carolina and joined a nearby Jehovah’s Witness congregation, located at 16525 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Over the years, many children have been exposed to Gorski, specifically during his time as a school teacher and church leader,” Lovchik stated. “It is believed that additional victims may exist who have not yet reported their abuse to authorities.”

Additional victims, or people with knowledge of Gorski’s abuse, are encouraged to contact the Buena Park Police Department at 714.562.3963.
