Four people were arrested at a DUI checkpoint conducted by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) last weekend, the LBPD announced today.

During the checkpoint, which took place on December 20 on westbound 7th Street at Locust Avenue between 7:00PM and 3:00AM, 1,197 vehicles passed through with 238 drivers being screened for driving under the influence.

The checkpoint netted the following results:

    • Three (3) Standardized Field Sobriety Tests conducted
    • Three (3) drivers arrested for DUI
    • One (1) driver arrested for a criminal offense
    • Ten (10) drivers cited for unlicensed driving
    • Three (3) drivers cited for suspended license
    • Three (3) drivers cited for traffic violations

Funding for the checkpoint program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Safety Administration.
