Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department transit detectives need help identifying a man they say intentionally exposed himself in a sexually explicit way to a woman on a Metro Green Line train in December.

Investigators say the suspect boarded a Green Line train at the Long Beach Boulevard station in Lynwood on Dec. 10 around 10:45 a.m. and sat across from his victim in the same train car.

Security-camera video shows the suspect exposed himself and tried to get the victim’s attention for “many minutes” before she finally noticed him, according to the LASD.

“She stated that she was extremely offended and got up from her seat and moved to another part of the train car,” an LASD advisory said.

The video shows the suspect taking note of where the train car cameras are and exiting the train at Aviation Station in Westchester.

Based on the suspect’s behavior, detectives believe this may not be the first time he’s done this and he could do it again.

“People like this should not be on the streets or on our transit system,” said transit Det. Karen Velasquez. “We want to ensure that we get him identified as soon as possible.”

The suspect is described as a black man between 25 and 30 years old, 5-feet 8-inches tall and 180 pounds with short black hair, a mustache and scruffy beard. He was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and was carrying a black or dark grey backpack with a small white logo.

According to Sgt. Ed O’Neil, these types of crimes are rare in the Metro system.

If you see this person, do not approach him, detectives warned, but if you have any information regarding his identity, contact Velasquez or O’Neil at 323-563-5000.
