UPDATE | The county coroner’s office has identified a homeless man found fatally stabbed in the Eastside area of Long Beach early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

Allen Dean Estes, 38, was declared dead at 5:41AM on Saturday, July 4, by authorities, a representative from the coroner’s office said.

7/6/15 at 9:49AM | A homeless man was found fatally stabbed in the Eastside area of Long Beach early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were dispatched to East Anaheim Street and Dawson Avenue at 5:27AM on the Fourth of July to assist Long Beach paramedics with an unresponsive man who had a stab injury, LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said.

Authorities determined the man—believed to be homeless—was dead at the scene.

His name will be released once the next of kin has been notified, officials said.

Authorities do not have available suspect information and a motive is unknown. The investigation remains ongoing.
