UPDATE | A woman who authorities believe was fatally shot by her husband before he killed himself has been identified.

On Saturday, September 23, Long Beach Police officers responding to a domestic violence call at a residence on the 7100 block of Island Village Drive found two individuals with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Off-duty Los Angeles Fire Department captain, Wayne Havron, 53, was declared dead at the scene, while his wife, identified today as Sidette Havron, 45, of Long Beach was pronounced dead at a hospital.

9/25/17 at 12:20PM | A man and a woman believed to be husband and wife were fatally shot in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide in Long Beach over the weekend.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call Saturday, September 23 at 10:45AM on the 7100 block of Island Village Drive when they found two individuals with apparent gunshot wounds at a residence, according to a release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

The man was determined dead at the scene and the woman was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach paramedics and pronounced dead thereafter, officials stated.


Officials believe the individuals are husband and wife. A firearm was recovered at the scene and the incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

The gunman has been identified as 53-year-old Long Beach resident Wayne Havron who, according to the LA Times, was a fire captain with the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). 

The woman’s name has not been released.
