Eric TseUniversity police are searching for a man linked to a string of cell phone thefts on multiple college campuses, including a recent theft at Cal State Long Beach, authorities announced.

Officials believe Eric Tse—who is not affiliated with the school—allegedly stole a CSULB student’s cell phone when he asked to borrow it at the University Library on Monday, February 8.

“The suspect gave the victim a wallet as collateral for the return of the phone, as well as a backpack,” CSULBPD officials said in a statement released Tuesday. “The suspect left the area with the victim’s cellular phone, depriving the victim of his property.”

Police identified Tse based on a prior case regarding the same circumstances. The victim was also able to identify the suspect based on a photo lineup.

Authorities said Tse likes to frequent the library when he steals cell phones and has committed this crime on other college campuses.

Tse is described as Asian, 5 feet, 7 inches, 160 pounds, and with black hair and brown eyes.
