SWAT officers arrested a Long Beach man and a girl from Los Angeles Monday on suspicion of committing an armed home-invasion robbery in Manhattan Beach where two victims were tied up after the suspects befriended them on Instagram, police said.

The robbery occurred on Oct. 8 in the 400 block of 27th Street, where officers were summoned about 2:35 a.m., Manhattan Beach Police Sgt. Tim Zins said.

“Three male black suspects entered a residence armed with handguns,” Zins said. “The suspects tied up two victims, ransacked the residence and stole the victim’s vehicle.”

Detectives identified the girl as the primary suspect and 21-year-old Jermaine Myles of Long Beach as a second suspect, Zins said.

“The investigation revealed the suspects befriended the victims via Instagram and were invited to their residence on the day of the crime,” Zins said. “Detectives determined the female juvenile suspect orchestrated the robbery while three male suspects carried it out.”

On Monday, the Manhattan Beach Police Department SWAT team, with assistance from Gardena police SWAT units, served a search warrant in the 5500 block of Langport Avenue in Long Beach, where the girl and Myles were taken into custody, according to police.

The girl was booked on suspicion of robbery, burglary and conspiracy and Myles on suspicion of kidnapping, robbery, burglary and conspiracy.

The stolen vehicle was recovered in Los Angeles, Zins said.

“Detectives are currently attempting to identify the two additional outstanding armed robbery suspects,” the sergeant said.
