After nearly five hours, Long Beach Police Department officers have called off a barricade in a Long Beach neighborhood.

After searching for an alleged armed man, with the assistance of SWAT, a suspect was not located in the residence in the 500 block of West Anaheim, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

“SWAT cleared the location and did not locate the suspect,” she said.

Neighborhood Blocked Off, Residents Asked to Vacate as LBPD, SWAT Surround Home Containing Armed Suspect

1:45PM | Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers have blocked off a Long Beach neighborhood while investigating an assault with a deadly weapon call. As a precaution, residents in the area have been asked to vacate their homes.

Police arrived to the scene on the 500 block of West Anaheim at about 9:55AM, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona. Police surrounded a home containing an armed man, and several announcements were made to call the suspect out. 

The suspect did not respond, and a SWAT Team was called in to assist.

The public and traffic are being restricted from entering west of Magnolia to east of Maine from 10th to Anaheim. 

The investigation is ongoing and police were still on the scene as of 1:39PM. No other information is available at this time. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
