A Long Beach man was charged with two counts of kidnapping to commit robbery on Tuesday by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Chiffonce Dion Pace, 26, is suspected of committing two armed robberies in Long Beach’s Eastside neighborhood last month.

The first robbery Pace was connected to occurred on August 15 at about 4:30AM near 10th Street and Redondo Avenue.

Authorities said an armed suspect approached a female victim and demanded her property.

Fearing being shot, the victim turned her items over to him and the suspect fled.

The victim was not injured.

The second robbery occurred on August 24 at about 12:30AM on the 1000 block of Redondo Avenue.

The suspect—armed with a handgun—allegedly directed the female victim to a dark portion of the alley and subsequently demanded her belongings and ordered her to undress, officials said.

During the incident, the suspect was startled and fled the scene, the release stated.

The victim was unharmed.

Detectives investigating the robberies were able to arrest Pace on Thursday, September 3, based on a tip provided by a witness to police, according to authorities.

A search warrant was also executed and evidence related to one of the robberies was recovered.

Pace was arraigned on Tuesday, September 8, during which prosecutors formally charged him with two counts of kidnap to commit robbery.

He remains in custody on $1 million bail.
