Long Beach police are investigating a possible gang-related shooting that happened Thursday morning, authorities said.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Gaviota Avenue at 5:47AM to calls of shots heard in the area, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Megan Zabel said.

A man driving his vehicle in the area was shot at by male suspects on foot on the street, Zabel said.

The victim was not hit by the gunfire, but his vehicle was.

Gang detectives responded to the scene and the case is being investigated as possibly gang related, officials said.
