Police arrested a man early Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence after he hit the side of a Long Beach Fire Department truck in a parking lot.

“Initial investigation revealed that a male adult driver hit the side of a Long Beach Fire Truck while exiting a parking lot,” said police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the fire truck was parked or moving. The collision happened in the 600 block of Long Beach Boulevard in Downtown, police said.

Members of LBFD called police at about 5:40 a.m. and police found the suspect at his home near Cambodia Town about 40 minutes later, according to arrest records.

Police arrested 30-year-old Reggie Vail on suspicion of driving under the influence, hit and run with property damage and an outstanding warrant and is being held on $15,500 bail.
