A man was murdered in a shooting that occurred just north of downtown Long Beach early Saturday morning, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD)  announced Saturday. 

According to police officials, the LBPD responded to reports of a shooting on the 1000 block of Olive Avenue at 3:26AM, where they discovered a male adult had been struck by gunfire. 

The Long Beach Police department (LBPD) arrived and transported the victim, who had critical injuries, to the hospital. He died of his injuries shortly after. 

The motive for the shooting remains unknown and the investigation is ongoing, according to the police.
