UPDATE | The sentencing for the 24-year-old man who pleaded no contest to felony charges related to a 2013 hit-and-run crash that killed a Long Beach mother, originally scheduled for today, has been postponed.
The sentencing is now slated for October 18 for Mario Palafox.

PREVIOUSLY: Man Pleads to Felony Charges Stemming From Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Long Beach
On 08/31/16 at 11:38AM | A 24-year-old man pleaded no contest Tuesday to felony charges related to a 2013 hit-and-run crash that killed a Long Beach mother.
Mario Ivan Palafox, of Bellflower, entered his plea to one count of vehicular manslaughter and three counts of hit-and-run for the May 15, 2013 crash that left 47-year-old Elane Logay dead at the scene, according to Deputy District Attorney Karen Brako.
Palafox was driving a 1992 Lexus without a license at a “high rate of speed” westbound on Carson Street when he slammed into three vehicles waiting to make a left turn at Clark Avenue.
The car first collided with a 1985 Toyota Supra—driven by Logay—which forced that car forward into a 2005 Scion TC and that car into a 2007 Ford Mustang, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials.
The Toyota crumpled from the force of the impact, instantly killing Logay.
Palafox fled the scene after his car spun across the intersection where it remained. He was eventually found and arrested by Long Beach police on the Long Beach City College (LBCC) campus.
He is expected to be sentenced to eight years and four months in state prison when he appears before Superior Court Judge Mark Kim on September 27.
