A pair of shootings that struck Long Beach Sunday resulted in an injured man, a suspect arrested and a shattered car window, according to authorities.

First Shooting

A no-hit shooting reportedly happened at 1:44AM, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt. Police were dispatched to 10th Street and Pacific Avenue, in the city’s Willmore neighborhood, where a motorist was shot at as he drove by.

The victim, who drove home before calling police, told officers he was driving near 10th and Pacific when he heard a gunshot and his passenger side window shattered, according to Pratt. The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic man in a black vehicle.

The victim did not sustain any injuries.

Second Shooting

Officers were called at 9:55PM to Anaheim Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Cambodia Town regarding a shooting that happened at a gas station.

“Officers arrived and learned that two adult males were involved in a verbal dispute, which escalated into one subject shooting at the other,” Pratt said.

The victim was struck in his upper body and transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury, she said.

The suspect, who fled the scene in a vehicle, was found by police near 20th Street and Magnolia Avenue in the South Wrigley district after police matched the suspect vehicle’s description.

Police conducted a traffic stop and took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect, identified as a 29-year-old San Pedro man, was booked for attempted murder.

The gun was recovered at the scene.
