Cruz was creating a commotion in an alleyway when two women confronted him, according to Deputy District Attorney Delanee Hicks.

As the two women had an exchange, Cruz yelled at Wilson, who happened to be passing by, and continued to antagonize him before the two women separated them, according to the prosecutor. Cruz then pulled out a gun and fatally shot the victim.

Cruz was arrested on August 1, 2015, by Long Beach police.
