A man is expected to survive after being shot in the lower torso shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday night near the intersection of East Artesia Boulevard and Muriel Avenue, authorities said.

The suspects fled the scene before officers got there, Officer Carlos Sandoval said. Police said detectives believe the men drove off in a light-colored SUV.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with a wound that appeared to be non-life threatening, Sandoval said.

Detectives are still investigating the shooting. No further information was immediately available.
