Long Beach police are investigating a stabbing in the Willmore neighborhood, Friday night, near Maine Avenue and Seventh Street.

The victim, a man, was stabbed in his upper torso, Detective Jennifer Arzola said. He transported himself to a local hospital where he was being treated for his injuries. Officers met him there around 9:20 p.m. and determined the location of the crime scene.

“The preliminary investigation indicated the victim was outside when the suspect approached and stabbed him before fleeing the scene,” Arzola said.

It’s unclear if the victim was outside of a home as it is still under investigation, Arzola said.

Police do not know the motive for the stabbing or have an available suspect description, according to Arzola.

Anyone who may have information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Gang Enforcement section at 562-570-7370.
